Combatente pela liberdade em Angola, autor de poesia e ficção, artista plástico, deputado pelo MPLA em Luanda.
Depois de fazer o liceu no Huambo e no Lubango, frequentou a Faculdade de Arquitectura de Lisboa. Criou, com Carlos Erverdosa, a Colecção Autores Ultramarinos da Casa dos Estudantes do Império, que tenho vindo a divulgar, e que desempenhou um papel decisivo na divulgação das literaturas africanas de língua portuguesa, especialmente da literatura angolana.
